Kiryat Yam Beach is one of the declared calm and beautiful beaches north of Haifa, located north of the beach strip of Kiryat Haim – “Neot Beach” within the municipal area of Kiryat Yam.
The beach has undergone significant renovation and upgrading in recent years, after suffering from considerable neglect. Today, the beach is pleasant and inviting, and it is fun to visit – whether for swimming in the sea or for sitting at the kiosk and enjoying a cold ice cream on a hot day.
Tests conducted by the Ministry of Health in 2016 indicate that pollution at Kiryat Yam Beach has passed.
In the past year, a beautiful public park has been built on site, commemorating the memory of the late singer Arik Einstein, which includes wide and clean lawns for the public’s benefit in the place where the mythical whale statue stood. Kiryat Yam Beach is ideal for a family picnic, thanks to the fact that the park area is lit, supervised, and fenced.
In addition to pleasant and inviting seating benches scattered along both parts of the beach, at the entrance to the beach there is a bar-restaurant offering a variety of food and drink products, as well as a restroom and shower booth open during bathing hours.
The southern part of the beach includes seating benches, shade structures, and a lit promenade for the public’s benefit, a children’s playground, and public exercise facilities. Along this side, there is a rocky area touching the beach strip, allowing for relatively private sunbathing. This side is adjacent to Einstein Park, providing a convenient option for stretching legs and a short, relaxed walk for those seeking a break from the family picnic.
The northern side of Kiryat Yam Beach is more sporty and dedicated to water sports. The beach has a surfing club, as well as a net for beach volleyball. Additionally, water sports lessons for teenagers and children are held on site, by prior arrangement.
Both parts of the beach strip invite many walkers in the evening for an enjoyable walk along the waves, and at sunset, many residents of the neighborhood can be seen enjoying the clean beach and the good sea air.
A few years ago, a rumor spread in the city that a mermaid was spotted at Kiryat Yam Beach. The rumor took flight and the news was published in many media outlets. However, since then, the mermaid has not been seen nearby.
How to get to Kiryat Yam Beach (Zvolon Beach):
From the northern exit of the Carmel Tunnels, continue on Route 23 and connect to Yadin Road. Continue straight with the road, passing the old Haifa stadium until you reach a wide intersection. At the intersection, turn left towards Degania Street and continue driving along the street until you reach Neot Beach in Kiryat Haim. From there, turn right and continue on President Truman Boulevard, which connects within the municipal area of Kiryat Yam to Pinchas Sapir Boulevard until you pass a tall building of an absorption center. Immediately after that, at the roundabout, turn left into an organized parking lot adjacent to Einstein Park.
